The AFMAA - April 2009

The School of Accounting and Finance welcomed more than 2,500 students and parents on Saturday, April 4 for the writing of the Accounting and Financial Management Admissions Assignment (AFMAA), an important step in the admissions process for students seeking to enter the Accounting and Financial Management program this fall.

A two hour essay-style assignment, the AFMAA tests students’ ability to provide and support an opinion, their experience and skills as a leader and team player, and their ability to organize and present thoughts in a concise, organized, and meaningful way. The assignment helps the SAF select well-rounded students with the potential to excel academically and hone their skills and attributes to prepare for successful careers.

In addition to the test writing, the School held events and activities for parents and prospective students that outlined the advantages of studying Accounting and Financial Management at UW. Parent sessions were presented through the day, along with mini campus tours and an academic/student life fair. More than 200 AFM representatives, students and staff were on hand to answer questions.
